Vlaeva’s playing has been acclaimed wherever she has appeared. Lazar Berman called her talent “God-given” and Arnold Steinhardt, leader of the Guarneri String Quartet, praised her as “one of those people of extraordinary ability whom we hope for but rarely see.” She has performed solo recitals and with orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. In September, 2016 she premiered works by Sergei Bortkiewicz and Vladimir Drozdoff in Carnegie Hall.

Her major awards include First Prize, Liszt competition in Lucca, Italy, Third Prize, International Liszt Competition in Budapest, and the Yamaha Award for best Brahms interpreation. Her Liszt CD won the International Grand Prix "Liszt" du Disque. Her CD of Bach Transcriptions by Saint-Saens and Isidor Philipp for Hyperion Records was a BBC Music Magazine Instrumental Choice of the month. Its opening track inspired a short animation movie “Ouverture” that premiered at Lincoln Center. Vlaeva's most recent CD, piano music of Bortkiewicz, was released by Hyperion in 2016 to rave reviews.

The broad scope of her work has brought her to perform in the world's most prestigious venues, like Carnegie Hall, to the farthest-reaching places where music is needed most, like the jails of Riker's Island.

A winner of the 2012 Emerson String Quartet's Ackerman Chamber Music Competition, she is a sought-after collaborator and has enjoyed performing an extensive range of work with members of the world’s leading ensembles and acclaimed instrumental soloists.
